Returns & Renewals
How do I renew my items?
Click the “My Account” tab in the top menu. You will be prompted for your library card barcode (no spaces) and PIN. Your barcode is on the front of your library card. If you don’t remember your PIN, please call or visit the library and we can reset it for you. Click on “Items Out” to see a list all of the items on your record. Simply click the check box next to the item(s) you want to renew and then click “Renew Selected Items.” If an item is on hold for another patron, you will not be able to renew it. If you prefer, you can always call or visit the library and we’ll be happy to renew your items for you!
What is my account PIN?
Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is your library account password. It can be any four numbers. Just call or visit the library to reset your PIN.
Where can I return my items?
You may return Skaneateles items to any public library in Onondaga County, and you may also return any of the other Onondaga County libraries’ materials to Skaneateles. We also have a drop box in the municipal parking lot near Byrne Dairy and a drop box as part of our golibrary locker at the Skaneateles YMCA & Community Center.
How do I request an item that’s checked out or belongs to another library?
From the record in the online catalog, click on “Place Hold.” If you’re not already logged in to your account, you’ll be asked to do so using your library card barcode and PIN. Select the library at which you’d like to pick up the item and click “Submit request.” If you’d like an item not owned by any library in Onondaga County, ask a staff person about placing an Interlibrary Loan Request (ILL).
You will be notified that your hold is ready by an automated phone, email or text message. You probably selected a preference when you signed up for your card, but we can can change it for you at any time.
